Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects.
Additional Summary Specific to Job
Assists in recruiting/enrolling participants into the Sí Texas Project, Salud y Vida 2.0, as well as take part in the implementation and evaluation of the project. Provides outreach and/or lay health education to participants. Base office will be located mid-Valley as project activities will be implemented across the Rio Grande Valley. The ability to travel to various locations throughout the region is expected.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Under close supervision, conducts diabetes care management project according to specific project protocols including some or all of the following: participant recruitment, enrollment, intervention delivery, evaluation.
Maintains clean and accurate program equipment and materials to ensure safe and efficient program delivery.
Assist with teaching diabetes self-management classes and maintaining data and tracking measures for participants using proven effective strategies for behavior change.
Collects, evaluates and interprets chronic care program data and provides needed information to principal investigators and other chronic care management team members. Updates databases and records. Also, collects qualitative assessments through focus groups and interviews. Enters data and assists with interpretation with assistance from project leadership.
Coordinates work of chronic care management project across partners and entities to ensure high quality results.
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or relevant experience in lieu of education.
No years of experience
General knowledge of research fields
Valid Driver's License
Familiarity with the local community is a plus.
Must have the willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
Understanding of computers, text messages, smart phones, data bases
English and Spanish fluency
Community Health Worker certification preferred
Commensurate with experience
This position works with Houston Independent School District (H.I.S.D.) students.
This position works with minors under the age of 18 years.
