CITY OF BRYAN SCADA Administrator in BRYAN, Texas

The City of Bryan IT Department is seeking qualified candidates for SCADA Administrator. This position is primarily responsible for the Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) application system, including configuration, administration, maintenance, support, and troubleshooting of the SCADA application, Windows servers, workstations, and networking equipment. The SCADA system includes application software, database management, web service management, interfaces with other BTU applications, wired and wireless connections to field equipment, connections to other energy providers and to ERCOT. Responsibilities include: Maintains and enhances SCADA configurations to reflect changes to the SCADA field equipment and the requirements of internal customers and external customers, including other utility companies and regulatory agencies. Learns and supports business, technical, and functional requirements of software systems. Assists in the development of strategic technology plans. Makes recommendations for computer software and hardware requirements. Anticipates and analyzes complex problems and offers unique solutions and/or alternatives. Tests, maintains, upgrades, documents and monitors systems, including coordinating installation of computer applications and hardware. Reviews, documents and deploys vendor-supplied patches, service packs, firmware, hot fixes and system updates according to industry best practices and applicable standards. Trains staff and users to work with computer applications. Audits network and server activity to ensure integrity and performance of applications and compliance with applicable standards. Maintains documentation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Ensures successful integration of third party and other developed applications. Communicates with persons having non-technical backgrounds to develop a detailed understanding of their needs and implements changes as needed. Performs periodic testing of disaster recovery plans and incident response plans. Performs related duties as required. Maintains knowledge through study, training, and/or industry certifications. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Electronics, or similar technical field of study plus 4-6 years of work experience involving radio communications, network administration and/or SCADA systems; OR a Master's degree plus 2-4 years of experience as listed above; OR a PhD plus 0-2 years as listed above; OR an equivalent combination of related education, experience, certification, and training.
