Position Summary Information
The Graphic Designer I, under general supervision, supports of various web development projects for marketing and communications needs, including designing and editing graphics/photos for use in multimedia, web sites, and other online purposes.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience. No prior experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Visualization, Journalism, Communications, or related field. Four years of communications or marketing experience. Two years of demonstrated graphic design experience in active, online projects.

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of current web design trends and techniques. Knowledge of graphic design techniques and software, including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Information architecture, and web page design including WordPress and HTML. Ability to use cameras and video equipment and software including Final Cut. Ability to work independently to accomplish project goals.

Detailed Job Duties
Creates and coordinates graphic design for college print and digital media, including news stories, college newsletters and weekly emails, invitations, programs, promotional signs and posters, display signage, and social media graphics. Creates and maintains the college visual identity in all communications and marketing materials produced for the College of Liberal Arts.
Creates and coordinates graphic design for college and department websites. Provides web support to college and departments. Proofs, edits, and updates information in the college website.
Assists in overseeing adherence to college, university, and Texas A&M Foundation branding guidelines to ensure consistent brand messaging. Recommends approval for department publications. Orders promotional items for the college and departments
Represents the college at events, meetings, and other activities that relate to the use of graphic design and electronic media for college communications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Develops strategy for all digital media; conducts research to ensure web and print media are effective.
