          Description:
          The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, faith based, nonprofit organization, seeks a part- time Development Associate for the DFW Metroplex Command located in Dallas, Texas.

          The Development Associate assists the Special Events Manager in managing and monitoring the day-today operations, staff and volunteers of special events, i.e., the Annual Luncheon, donor lunches, retreats and special meetings, any special event involving the William Booth Society, and other various special events; helps coordinate and organize the flow of information, manpower, material and other resources; prepares statistical reports for special events and major gifts areas; works in close partnership with the Special Events Manager, Development Associates, Advisory Board Members, and Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Command donors; helps coordinate other fund raising campaigns, special projects or ongoing major funding programs which could involve corporate, individual, organization, foundation, and/or governments programs. Assists in developing a comprehensive development plan, under the direction of the Special Events Manager, in which the needs of the various special events are prioritized and placed on a timeline where possible. Plans special events, as assigned, and oversees all staff for events, community agencies or organizations, and volunteers involved to ensure that the outcome of the event is achieved and that all human resources are deployed appropriately. Assists in developing budget reports pertinent to the special events; tracks and monitors the income and expenses related to an event. Assists with scheduling all special events in advance and ensures the event is in harmony with the Development Department’s other activities eliminating possible conflicts. Coordinates special events as they relate to need, season, and other timeline or special circumstances and/or considerations, as well as established on-going events. Evaluates special events to determine effectiveness and recommends changes for improvements as necessary. Helps provide leadership to all areas of responsibility while remaining alert to progress, successes, obstacles, or unexpected situations, mediating, recommending or reporting as appropriate in each circumstance. Consults with the Special Events Manager to coordinate and draft department calendar; communicates with departments, staff and Officers to ensure operations are following established timetables. Attends meetings and other community involvements as assigned, which are pertinent to the promotion and support of The Salvation Army and enhancing its special events and projects. Participates in continuing education opportunities, conferences and seminars to enhance professional growth. Provides direction and support to staff or volunteers under his/her supervision. Performs public speaking to promote awareness and support for Salvation Army events, if assigned.
          Required Experience:
          Three years working in a setting utilizing Raiser’s Edge in conjunction with special events, donors or others, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
          Required Education:
          Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field.
          Compensation:
          $17.00 - $17.58/ DOE

          LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Texas Driver’s License
