Our client, a Chemical Plant located on the Houston Ship Channel, is seeking an experienced Plant Electrician to join their maintenance team. MUST HAVE JOURNEYMAN LICENSE. Job Title: Plant Electrician POSITION SUMMARY As a member of the site maintenance team, the Site Electrician is accountable to support the site s electrical equipment, distribution and infrastructure through safe execution of maintenance repair work orders, preventative work orders as well as installation and start-up of electrical utilities for small capital projects. In addition, this position will work with other maintenance staff to provide support of instrumentation, automation, DCS and other plant equipment and infrastructure. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for working in safe and efficient manner, following all plant safety rules and policies at all times. Capable of supporting12.5kV electrical service circuits and switchgear. Capable of supporting 2.4kV and below equipment, distribution and infrastructure Capable of troubleshooting motor control and other electrical circuits Proficient with reading single line electrical drawings, loop sheets and P&IDs. Understanding PLC Ladder logic is a plus. Capable of performing repairs of electrical equipment Capable of perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on electrical and related equipment, including testing of emergency back-up systems. Plan, design and install new electrical equipment and infrastructure per NEC standards. Effectively communicates work status, failure causes and effective solutions to the site management. Effectively coordinate work with electrical and other site contractors. Other duties assigned as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent Has a current Class C driver license Minimum of 10 years of experience as an electrician Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an electrician in a chemical plant environment Knowledge of current NEC standards as well as NFPA 70e Proficient at bending conduit, installing associated local controls, junction boxes and motor starters and other electrical devices. Fluent at calculating wire size, overload size, motor sizing and other associated calculations standard to the trade. Familiar with the operation of electrical test equipment, including but not limited to multimeters, amp meters, insulation test equipment. Capable of working at elevated heights with proper PPE. Capable of responding to emergency call outs in a timely manner on a rotating schedule. Capable of lifting a minimum of 75 lbs. Successfully passing a quantitative respirator fit test PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & POSITION CRITERIA Current Electrician s license for the state of Texas. Experience and knowledge of instrumentation and automation is a plus. Ability to create or modify electrical drawings. Ability to read PLC ladder logic is a plus. Motivated, self-starter who works well alone or in a group setting Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and formulate corrective actions to resolve issues based on facts. Certified in the operation of forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, excavating equipment, Easily communicates complex information concisely and accurately Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products
