          Drilling and Completions at Chevron's Shale Unit:

          We hold strategic positions in some of the world’s largest and most productive oil and gas regions. The approximately 1,400 people in the Drilling & Completions (D&C) team work in some of the world’s most challenging technical and operating environments.

          Chevron has formed a multi-discipline Shale Unit within its Energy Technology Company to provide technology solutions and organizational capability to facilitate development of a strategically important Shale Asset Class which includes more than 8 million net acres in 9 different countries. Staffing this unit with experienced engineers having expertise in well design and multi-stage fracturing is a critical success factor.

          From a D&C perspective, our goal in the Shale Unit is to be the Clear Leader” and an integral partner delivering superior drilling and completions technology solutions to Chevron’s Shale Assets, resulting in safe and efficient operations that ensure well integrity, maximizing well productivity and reservoir recovery, and minimizing number of wells drilled and their cost. To get us there, we are committed to the education and development of our workforce.

          In this regard, Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Sr. Completion Engineering Advisor – ETC Shale Unit located in Houston, Texas.

          Position will be based out of Houston.< 25% global travel will be required.

          Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


          • With a focus on shale and other unconventional resources (UCR) asset exploration, appraisal, and/or development programs, provides completion engineering design and operations support to Chevron strategic business units (SBUs) globally.


          • Performs investigations into specific areas or issues affecting well completion efficiency and looks for opportunities to leverage technology and best practices to improve well design and completion / well intervention operations.


          • Stays abreast of leading-edge technologies in Chevron and industry-wide related to mulit-stage fracturing and looks for opportunities to introduce / pilot test / deploy them in value-added Chevron field applications.


          • Manages technology development and strategic research projects in the area of well completions incorporating multi-stage fracturing and other concepts for effectively exploiting ultra-low permeability shale assets and other UCR plays.


          • Provides SME guidance and technology / best practices / knowledge transfer between SBUs / Asset Teams and ETC geared towards all aspects of well engineering, fracture stimulation design, and operations related to shale asset and other UCR-related well construction.


          Required Qualifications:


          • Bachelors degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.


          • Minimum 5 of years relevant experience with completing wells using multi-stage fracturing tools and techniques.


          • Diverse engineering and operations knowledge related to technology, rock mechanics theory, products, services, tools, materials, equipment, procedures, and practices which are relevant to designing and implementing horizontal stage-frac completions in shale asset & UCR play development.


          • Diverse operational and engineering experience directly related to horizontal stage-frac completions in a shale or other UCR play.


          • Demonstrated behaviors in support of consensus building and teamwork.


          • Ability to travel, occasionally, to domestic and international business units to assist with technical analysis and/or training


          • Capable of working with little or minimal supervision and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate work with SBUs and outside service company partners.


          • Good communication skills.


          • Proactive and capable of leading important technology development and strategic research initiatives.


          Preferred Qualifications:


          • Diverse experience in multiple shale plays.


          • Strong engineering and operational knowledge of plug n' perf, frac sleeve/openhole packer, and/or coil tubing multi-stage fracturing processes.


          • Knowledge of micro-seismic fracture mapping, RA / non-RA proppant tracers, unique chemical tracers, PLT, fiber optic DTS / DAS monitoring systems, and artificial lift.
