Job Description

UT HEALTH Ophthalmology front desk position is responsible for welcoming all patients and visitors. Proceed to arrive patients into EPIC and verifies that all required forms are reviewed and signed by the patient, verifies and updates full patient demographics and insurance, scans all necessary documents and IDs, and collects all co-pays/deductibles at time of service. This position works closely with clinical staff and faculty/providers to keep them informed of arrived patients and in turn, keep the patient abreast as to the status of their scheduled appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a health care setting; specifically with front desk protocol, insurance processes, co-payment collection, and scheduling. Experience in an ophthalmology/optometry medical practice is a plus. Bilingual (English/ Spanish)

Job Duty

Proactively confirms all appointment records are established and works patient registration work queues. Ability to keep patients, clinical staff, and providers well informed in order to maintain efficient patient flow. Creates and verifies patient registration and schedules appointments and completes appointment notes.

Enters all referrals into the system and notifies patient of the need for a referral/authorizations before the next scheduled visit. Follows cash management policies and procedures to maintain cash drawer and credit card receipts.

Job Duty

Collect co-pays at the time of service and any outstanding patient balance. Refer patient with outstanding balances, or non-payment of co-pays to BC or any patient inquiring about their balance or account status. Maintains cash drawer of seed funds and any collected monies and credit card receipts and keeps secure at all times. Creates and closes batches on a daily basis

Completes EOD processes, keep up with No-show appointment report, reschedule report, same day cancelation report. Cross trained to complete tasks and assists where needed.
