U.S. Xpress, Inc. Transportation Supervisor II in Terrell, Texas
Responsible for supervising and developing all drivers for assigned accounts, addressing customer service issues or complaints, and all shipments to meet the customer’s needs and demands.
Duties & Responsibilities
Track and work with the customer(s) to receive assigned lanes and commitment levels from shipping locations. Includes responsibility for the ETA of the trucks at each stop and tracking while in transit.
Responsible for executing strategic plan set forth by the customer while satisfying customer needs and providing the best service possible
Plan and/or execute daily operations with regard to scheduling and/or routing.
Check all availabilities and status on rosters
Assign driver to loads (consider current loads running)
Assign trucks to drivers
Ensure all loads are pre-assigned & dispatched empty
Notify drivers of route specifics including directions, load information, pick-up/delivery times and other special load related information.
Double check and update available times & status
Check with Walmart on MP route & if issues, pursue alternative plan for execution
Plan MP routes
Maximize revenue per tractor through appropriate equipment utilization
Be proactive & plan ahead in coordinating physicals and random drug screens as well as CDL renewal deadlines for drivers ahead of Safety Department tracking and correspondence
Develop a sense of trust and integrity with the customer.
Ensure drivers and equipment are performing as necessary to provide on-time service including fleet maintenance programs are current on tractors and trailers
Supervise driver performance to ensure proper balance is achieved with business needs and driver needs; makes recommendations for performance documentation and terminations.
Approve home time requests
Responsible for addressing issues and disputes for drivers
Complete driver performance reviews and approve home time requests
Document and communicate all service related issues
Seek appropriate guidance from leadership on matters that could negatively impact USX financially
Ownership of entire onboarding process & executing 30-60-90 day reviews with new drivers.
Responsible for first 15 day onboarding of all drivers, including preliminary and onsite orientation
Properly utilize and execute 4DX and TPI responsibilities.
Determine root cause of safety incidents, execute corrective measures, and improve safety rates.
May include other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
Minimum of 3 years of high volume operational experience required.
Minimum of 1 year leadership experience required.
Experience in the transportation industry a plus.
Intermediate interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills required; ability to exchange information effectively and tactfully, moderate degree of tack diplomacy when dealing with others and handling sensitive issues.
Intermediate computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Office, Internet, and applicable company-specific applications.
Strong analytical, problem solving, strategic and innovative thinking skills.
Extreme patience in dealing with volatile situations; flawless follow-up procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations impacting daily operations.
Work Environment:this job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines, and filing cabinets.

This is a salaried position with a paygrade of ES11.
