Job Summary:

The Bell Flight Research Center (FRC) is the organization charged with the conduct of experimental and engineering flight test activities in support of the company’s strategic priorities and programs.The FRC Maintenance Manager is responsible for the service, repair and overall maintenance of the FRC experimental and support aircraft to ensure all assets are safe for flight and able to support the strategic priorities of the company.Aircraft will include a large variety of Bell products from certified support aircraft to one-of-a-kindexperimental systems.The FRC Maintenance Manager leads the day-to-day maintenance activities of asset management, parts ordering, maintenance scheduling and budget management.


  • Provide daily leadership to maintenance team to include front line supervisors, aircraft coordinators, quality department, mechanics, electricians, and logistics personnel to assure operational excellence.

  • Manages the service, repair, and overall maintenance of experimental and support aircraft and aircraft engines to verify aircrafts are safe for flight.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to support program objectives.

  • Ensures compliance to all FAA / TC maintenance regulations and requirements.

  • Ensures maintenance activities are completed on time and within budget.

  • Key advisor to the Director Flight Research regarding all aircraft maintenance activities.

  • Focused on continuous improvement to better meet customer requirements.

  • Develop processes and documentation to support operational activities.

  • Comply with company safety program and trainings.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and properly care for the company equipment.

  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the local unions in accordance with the collective bargaining agreements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of FRC Maintenance Manager, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

Ability to work in outside weather conditions on a flight line/ramp around aircraft. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.

Work Environment

The primary work environment is similar an office environment. However, the FRC Maintenance Manager must have the ability to conduct business in outside weather conditions, near moving machinery parts; on an active flight line; near vehicles and aircraft.


  • Bachelor’s degree required - (Aviation or Engineering discipline desired)

  • 10 years maintenance experience desired

  • 5 years supervisory experience leading multifunctional teams

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the aviation maintenance field

  • A&P license desired

  • Previous experience on Bell products desired

  • Valid Driver License

  • Familiarity with airport /flight line equipment

  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Preferred experience in a unionized environment

  • Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of a flight line

  • Ability to work on call due from home with internet connection

  • Ability to communicate professionally in English, both verbally and written

  • Ability to travel on a periodic basis
