USAA Information Governance Director in San Antonio, Texas

Purpose of Job

This role directly supports the Information Governance capability for the Channel Data Hub in COO Enterprise Business Solutions. This data team directly oversees Information Governance for all USAA channels including phone (speech and text), digital (.com and mobile), documents, email, and chat.

Directs the development and implementation of strategies that supports maturing USAA's information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities. Establishes and enforces enterprise data policies, standards, practices and processes according to industry best practices. Accountable for the quality of results from work produced by the team.

We are currently seeking talented Director, Information Governance for our San Antonio, TX facility.

Job Requirements

  • Leads strategic direction for information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities and working with program management community in prioritizing and funding capabilities delivery, as needed.
  • Directs and collaborates with business and IT partners on utilizing information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities in support of achieving business operations and strategic goals and objectives.
  • Provides the leadership, motivation and environment necessary for building high performing teams that collaborate with enterprise stakeholders in defining information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities that supports business needs.
  • Advises executives on institutionalizing and maturing information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management capabilities to include providing advice on satisfying regulatory requirements related to information governance and management.
  • Partners with business and IT teams to drive effectiveness and value of information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management processes to the business.
  • Ensures team understands how the information management activities they are responsible for align with information governance, data quality, information architecture and information asset management activities performed by other teams.
  • Directs team in work assignments, problem resolution, and producing quality work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field or 4 additional years work experience in information governance, information management or information architecture can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience required OR A Master's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field OR A PhD in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies or a related technical field.
  • If Bachelor's degree, 8 or more years experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting and 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience OR If Master's degree, 6 or more years experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting and 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience OR If PhD, 5 or more years experience Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting and 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

Preferred

  • Experience in leading teams to improve Information Governance scores per standards Information Governance frameworks (capability maturity model/ data maturity model)
  • Experience using IT solutions to harden/eliminate user developed applications and reduce dependencies on manual processes
  • Experience with uncovering critical data elements from multiple domains to reduce compliance risk
  • Experience driving continuous improvement with Information Governance including upscaling teams and developing training programs for customer base

Selected candidates will attend and complete the Management Development School program in San Antonio, TX, during their first six months in position.
